Bukhara is the only city in Uzbekistan where the atmosphere of antiquity is best felt. The city is over 2500 years old, and if you know the routes, you can find the heritage of every era on its streets. Our guides will lead you along these paths and tell you the most important things about Bukhara’s past and present, so that its history will form a comprehensible picture and its buildings and monuments will make sense. Program:
We will walk through the old part of the city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you will not only get to know the outstanding architectural monuments, but also feel the atmosphere of past eras.
- We will tell the story in accessible language, concise and interesting, with legends and humor. You will learn about the main events of Bukhara, the heritage of different dynasties, the brisk trade during the Great Silk Road and the development of the city.
- You will also learn about modern life – what the population is engaged in, what professions and crafts exist now, the economy, education, rich cuisine and colorful traditions of Bukhara.
- In mosques and madrasas on the peculiarities and traditions of the religion of Uzbekistan.
- In the large colorful bazaars of the city you can imagine how trade was organized in ancient times, learn what kind of merchants came to Bukhara, who are changers and what traders sell now.
- In addition to iconic landmarks, I will show unique monuments off the tourist routes, such as abandoned mosques that have preserved their ancient interiors.
