Day 1: Tashkent

Arrival in Tashkent.

Start of the tour around Tashkent.

The capital of Uzbekistan – the city of Tashkent – has existed for more than 2200 years. During this time, it has gone from an ancient settlement to a major city of Central Asia. The city has seen many memorable events and trials, encountered ups and downs.

Excursion around the old city:

  • Hast-i-Imam complex, where you can see the Quran of Osman from the 7th century.
  • Chorsu market – where you can buy oriental sweets and national souvenirs.

Day 2. Tashkent – Samarkand

Breakfast at the hotel.

07:00 Transfer to the train station.

08:00 Departure of Afrosiab train to Samarkand.

10:08 Arrival in Samarkand.

Beginning of the tour.

 

Great Samarkand is one of the ancient cities of the world, its age is 2750 years. Samarkand is situated in the picturesque valley of the river Zarafshan, surrounded by Pamir-Alay mountains.

Amir Temur made Samarkand the capital of his large empire.

  • Guri-Emir Mausoleum (14th century), the place where Amir Temur’s ashes rest.
  • Registan Square:
  • Ulugbek Madrasah (1417 – 1420),
  • Sherdor madrassah (1619 – 1636)
  • Tillya-Kari Madrassah (1647 – 1660).

  • Bibi-khanum Mosque – mosque of Amir Timur’s spouse

Day 3. Samarkand

Breakfast at the hotel.

Continuation of Samarkand sightseeing tour.

Shokh-i-Zinda ensemble Mausoleum of St. Daniel Ulugbek’s observatory.

13.00 Lunch in national restaurant.

Dinner in a national restaurant. Overnight in a hotel.

 

Day 4. Samarkand – Aidarkul

Breakfast at the hotel.

In the morning departure from Samarkand to yurt camp located in Kyzylkum desert.

(180 km, 3 hours*).

Travel to the yurt camp “Safari”. Arrival and accommodation in a yurt. Camel riding and free time. In the evening dinner around the campfire under folk songs of Kazakh akyn.

Overnight in the yurt.

Meals: lunch and dinner**

* Travel by minivan or bus is on average one hour longer.

**Although meals are included in the program, based on the experience and advice of our guests, we recommend that you bring a snack because there are no stores in the vicinity of the yurt camp.

**A camel ride of 10 minutes is available to each guest.

**In the evening our guests can enjoy a nomadic show – an akyn playing around the campfire.

 

Day 5. Aidakul – Gijduvan – Bukhara

Breakfast at the hotel.

Departure to Bukhara, via Gijduvan (233 km – 3,5 hours)

Short excursion to Nurat, where you will visit a local mosque with a holy spring. On the way stop at Nurata pass, where ancient rock carvings (petroglyphs) are preserved.

Stop in Gijduvan.

Visit to the Center of Gijduvan potters’ school.

The owner of the center is a famous ceramist of Uzbekistan – Alisher Narzullaev, one of the most recognized masters of ceramics of modern Uzbekistan.

The center offers:

Tour of the workshops with a demonstration of ceramics technology; Master classes in ceramics and embroidery; Museum of Ceramics. Works of the 5th generation; Ceramics Gallery;

18.00 Arrival in Bukhara. Check-in to the hotel. Overnight in the hotel.

 

Day 6. Bukhara

Breakfast at the hotel.

10.00 Start of excursion around Bukhara.

One of the most ancient cities of the world – fabulous Bukhara. Bukhara has many names. The word “Bukhara” is consonant to the Sanskrit word “Vihara” – “monastery”, also to the Chinese “Bihar” – place of idols. It is said that the founder of Bukhara was the son of the Iranian king Siyavush. Having married the daughter of the king Afrosiab, he built here the fortress Ark, and erected a huge city, which to this day has not lost all its beauty and majesty.

Visit the workshop of blacksmiths in the 7th generation. Master class.

Day 7. Bukhara – Suburban Bukhara – Tashkent

Breakfast at the hotel.

09.00 Start of the excursion to Suburban Bukhara.

The excursion around suburban Bukhara will start with a visit to the

Mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshbandi

Sitorai Mokhi Khosa – summer residence of the last Bukhara emir. Chor Bakr ensemble.

12.30 Return to Bukhara.

12.30-13.30 Lunch in national restaurant.

14.00 Transfer to the station.

15.55 Departure of the train Afrasiab to Tashkent

19.38 Arrival of the train to Tashkent.

Transfer to the hotel.

Day 8. Tashkent
